AThe short answer

Workzoom is Canadian HR and payroll software for mid-market organizations with 50 to 5,000 employees, 100% Canadian-owned and founder-led, headquartered in Toronto with a continuous Canadian payroll lineage since 1974. As HRIS Canada and CRA-compliant payroll software, one employee record runs HR, payroll, workforce, and talent across every Canadian province. T4, ROE, CPP, EI, and provincial taxes calculate automatically every pay run; CRA and Service Canada e-filing is native for T4 and ROE, with a small number of provincial WCB and statutory filings available via an integration partner. A Canadian implementation team that knows CRA, ROE, and provincial rules sets you up. Used by 400+ Canadian organizations including County of Renfrew, Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, and County of Brant.

Bank integrations

Which Canadian banks does Workzoom support for direct deposit?

Workzoom generates the direct-deposit file for every payroll run in the Payments Canada EFT standard (CPA Standard 005). Because that is the format every Canadian bank and credit union accepts, the file reaches any institution your employees use, not only the ones listed here. Net pay moves straight from your account to your employees’ accounts. Workzoom never holds, pools, or impounds the money.

  • RBC Royal Bank Direct deposit ready
  • TD Canada Trust Direct deposit ready
  • Bank of Nova Scotia Direct deposit ready
  • BMO Direct deposit ready
  • CIBC Direct deposit ready
  • National Bank of Canada Direct deposit ready
  • Desjardins Direct deposit ready

Have a bank not listed here, or one with custom file requirements? Tell us your bank and we will confirm the setup before your first pay run.

It is priced at $4 per suite per employee per month (CAD in Canada, USD elsewhere). The complete platform with all four suites costs $16 per employee per month in your billing currency. A 200-employee organization using all four suites pays $3,200 per month with no setup fees and no contracts.

Core Suite (required, $4 per employee per month)

The Core suite is the Workzoom platform itself. Every subscription starts here. It includes three portals: an admin portal for HR teams, a manager portal for supervisors, and an employee self-service portal for staff. Core includes recruiting, onboarding, personnel records, organizational charts and position management, compensation management, employee engagement surveys, document storage with e-signatures, and reporting and analytics. All other suites build on top of Core.

Talent Suite (optional, +$4 per employee per month)

Performance management with 360-degree reviews and 9-box talent grids, a learning management system with course tracking and certifications, career planning with development paths, and succession planning with readiness assessments.

Workforce Suite (optional, +$4 per employee per month)

Drag-and-drop employee scheduling with shift templates, timekeeping with web, mobile, kiosk, biometric, and facial recognition clocking, and time off management with balance tracking, approval workflows, and team calendar views.

Payroll Suite (optional, +$4 per employee per month)

Payroll processing with built-in statutory compliance for multiple countries. Canada: CPP, EI, federal and provincial income tax, T4, ROE. United States: federal and state taxes, W-2. Bahamas: NIB contributions. Jamaica: PAYE, NIS, NHT, Education Tax, HEART/NSTA. Trinidad and Tobago: NIS, Health Surcharge, PAYE. Also includes benefits administration and expense management with receipt capture.

Complete Platform ($16 per employee per month)

All four suites combined. For a 200-employee company, the complete platform costs $3,200 per month. For a 500-employee company, it costs $8,000 per month. Annual prepayment saves 5%, and non-profit organizations receive an additional 5% discount.

Discounts available

Annual prepay discount: 5% off when billed annually instead of monthly. Non-profit discount: 5% off for registered non-profit organizations. These discounts stack for a combined savings of approximately 9.75%. Example: a 200-employee non-profit on annual billing pays approximately $34,668 per year instead of $38,400, saving $3,732 annually.

What is included at no extra cost

Implementation and setup, data migration from existing systems (spreadsheets, other HRIS, payroll providers), training for administrators and end users, ongoing customer support, and all future software updates and new features. There are no per-payroll-run fees, no per-report fees, and no per-user license fees beyond the per-employee pricing.

Minimum monthly fees

For very small organizations, minimum monthly fees apply: $400 per month for 1 suite, $500 for 2 suites, $600 for 3 suites, $700 for all 4 suites. These minimums only affect organizations with fewer than 100 employees.

06How it works

What running payroll in Canada actually requires

13 provinces and territories, CPP2 changes, EI rate updates, and ROE submission requirements make specific demands of the system behind the payroll run.

Single database. No sync required.

HR, Workforce, Payroll, and Talent share one employee record. When a rate changes in HR, payroll reads it immediately. No sync job between modules, no reconciliation step.

13 provincial tax tables, maintained automatically.

Federal and provincial income tax is calculated across all provinces and territories. Tax tables update when CRA publishes changes. No manual table entry.

CPP, CPP2, and EI at current rates.

CPP at 5.95% on pensionable earnings to the $74,600 YMPE, CPP2 at 4% between the YMPE and the $85,000 YAMPE, and EI at 1.63% on insurable earnings to the $68,900 maximum. All rates update automatically when CRA publishes changes.

Data hosted in Canada, governed by Canadian law.

All data is hosted on Canadian servers operated by Nortek Solutions Inc. in Toronto. PIPEDA requirements met with no routine cross-border data transfers for Canadian clients.

07b Statutory rates

Statutory payroll rates for Canada

Current employee and employer contribution rates, ceilings, and thresholds set by the issuing authority. Workzoom configures and maintains these rates in the platform, reviewed quarterly and on every statutory change, so payroll runs use the current values.

EI employee premium rate 1.63% 2026 CRA MIE: $68,900

13FAQ

Questions about Canada

Specifics on running HR and payroll in Canada with Workzoom.

Yes. Workzoom is 100% Canadian-owned and founder-led, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, and operated by Nortek Solutions Inc. Its Canadian payroll lineage runs continuously back to 1974, so CPP, EI, T4, and ROE are built natively to CRA and Service Canada rules rather than bolted onto a US engine. Implementation is handled by a Canadian team that knows CRA, ROE, and provincial requirements first-hand.
Workzoom is built for the Canadian mid-market: 50 to 5,000 employees, sweet spot around 250. Operated by Nortek Solutions Inc., founded in Toronto in 2000, 100% Canadian-owned, hosted on AWS Canada (ca-central-1). One employee record runs HR, payroll, workforce, and talent. CPP, CPP2, EI, federal and provincial tax, T4 slips, and Records of Employment are included. Named clients: County of Renfrew (900 employees), Silvera for Seniors (400), Ktunaxa Nation Council, Northern Sunrise County, and Driving Change Automotive Group.
Workzoom calculates CPP contributions at 5.95% on pensionable earnings between the $3,500 YBE and $74,600 YMPE, plus CPP2 at 4% between YMPE and the $85,000 YAMPE. EI premiums run at 1.63% employee and 2.282% employer on earnings up to $68,900 for 2026. Employer portions are calculated automatically. All rates update when the CRA publishes new payroll tables. Effective-dating tracks every rate change so retroactive corrections flow into the next remittance automatically.
Workzoom generates T4 slips for every employee automatically and prepares the CRA electronic-filing file by the February 28 deadline, ready for your team to submit. Employees can download their T4 through self-service without contacting HR. The year-end file is produced with one-click distribution to each employee's self-service portal. Workzoom also generates T4As, T2200s, and amended slips when corrections are needed mid-year, plus NR-4 slips for non-resident income.
Workzoom issues ROEs automatically on termination or interruption of earnings. Correct reason codes are applied based on the separation type, and ROEs are generated electronically for Service Canada the same day, ready to submit, with no manual form completion required. The system records the reason code, last day worked, and insurable earnings without any manual ROE web entry from the payroll administrator. Year-to-date amendments flow through the same channel.
Workzoom supports payroll across all 13 Canadian provinces and territories, with federal and provincial income tax tables built in and maintained. Ontario (under the Employment Standards Act), Quebec, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Atlantic provinces, and the territories are all covered. Tax tables update automatically when the CRA and provincial agencies publish changes. Provincial WCB and WSIB premium reporting, Ontario EHT, Quebec FSS, Manitoba HE Levy, plus Quebec QPP, QPIP, and Releve-1 generation are all handled on the same pay run.
Workzoom keeps Canadian customer data in Canada, hosted on AWS infrastructure in Montreal (ca-central-1) and operated by Nortek Solutions Inc. in Toronto, with no routine cross-border data transfers for Canadian clients, role-based access controls, AES-256 encryption at rest, and immutable audit logs. The platform is built on PIPEDA principles, including consent management and breach notification. Some PIPEDA requirements, such as automatic candidate-data retention limits and deletion, are on our roadmap rather than enforced today, so if data-retention compliance is central to your evaluation, raise it with us and we will walk you through where it stands.
Workzoom starts at $4 CAD per employee per month for the required HR Suite ($400 CAD/month minimum). Workforce, Payroll, and Talent each add $4, so the full platform is $16 CAD per employee per month. Implementation, data migration, training, and ongoing support are included. No setup fees, no annual contracts, no hidden add-ons, month-to-month billing. The mid-market HRIS Canada minimum is 50 employees per organization. See Canadian HR and payroll software pricing.
Workzoom is fully bilingual: English and Canadian French for employee self-service, manager interfaces, HR administration, and payroll documentation. Quebec payroll runs natively with French-language Releve-1 generation included. All Canadian payroll documents, pay stubs, T4 slips, and termination notices, can be issued in either language at each employee's preference. Workzoom support is delivered in both English and French by a team based in Canada.
