About Workzoom
We built payroll
before we built software.
Linda Woolley built her first payroll system in 1974, before the IBM PC existed. She co-founded Nortek Solutions Inc. with Andy Woolley in 2000, the same Canadian legal entity that ships as Workzoom today. 52 years of continuous Canadian payroll lineage, 100% Canadian-owned, founder-led across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom.

01Our story
HRIS built by people who have done the work.
In 1974, Linda Woolley built her first payroll system for Canadian enterprises. Not as a technologist experimenting in a new market. As a professional who understood payroll deeply, before the IBM PC existed. She built what her clients needed because she had lived the problem. The company she founded that year, High Line Data Systems Inc., ran through the 1990s.
When Linda and Andy Woolley co-founded Nortek Solutions Inc. in 2000, they brought that foundation with them. The compliance depth, the service model, the conviction that software should serve practitioners rather than force them to adapt. Workzoom is their life's work, and Nortek Solutions Inc. is still the legal entity behind it.
In 2009 Nortek committed to a multi-tenant cloud architecture, a call most HR-software vendors did not make until years later. The cloud payroll application built on that decision, Curos, became the technical foundation that today ships as Workzoom.
02The difference
One employee record. Every module.
Most HR stacks are assembled from separate tools that pass data between them. Every handoff is a place where data gets lost, duplicated, or delayed. Workzoom is a single system. When a manager approves a timesheet, payroll already has it. When HR onboards a new hire, scheduling already sees them.
Workzoom is built for mid-market organizations with 50 to 5,000 employees that need the full stack without enterprise overhead. We publish our pricing upfront, include implementation, and assign the same support team from day one.
03The lineage
From a 1974 payroll system to Workzoom today.
Half a century of continuous Canadian payroll work. Same family, same legal entity since 2000.

04On the record
13 years of independent validation.
Thomson Reuters' Canadian Payroll Reporter quoted Linda peer to ADP Canada's CIO in 2012. Independent HCM analyst Steve Goldberg, ex-PeopleSoft and Bersin, named Workzoom directly in 2025. Two anchors, 13 years apart, same platform.
"In 2009, we said this is where we are going to head and it's going to be multi-tenanted. So no client would ever fear the risk of access by another client."
Canadian Payroll Reporter (Thomson Reuters). Is the cloud the right choice for payroll?.
"Of the 150+ HCM/HRTech solution vendors that have engaged me as an advisor or briefed me as an industry analyst, Workzoom's approach is notably efficient. I wish I had encountered Workzoom during my time as an HR Tech buyer."
