Rules attach to the position, not the person. Based on someone's job, work assignment, geography, and department, they are enrolled in the pay cycles, schedules, leave policies, onboarding checklists, and benefit-enrolment tasks you configured for that position. Move them to a new role and the rules follow. When they leave, the position stays configured and ready for the next hire.

What the HR Suite includes, how it connects to the rest of the platform, and what to expect during setup.

Workzoom gives each role exactly what it needs, nothing more. Admins see the full organization: cross-company reporting, configuration, compliance. Managers see their direct reports, team schedules, open requisitions, and pending approvals. Employees see their own profile, pay stubs, time-off balances, and tasks. Three views of one system. Each dashboard pulls live from the same record, so what an admin sees on the personnel screen matches what the employee sees on theirs without any export or sync step.
Most mid-market platforms overwrite your data when someone gets promoted. Workzoom does not. Every change is timestamped and preserved. Future-date a promotion today and the system activates the new leave entitlements, benefits tier, and pay scale on the right date. Effective-dating means a promotion entered today with a future start date appears on tomorrow’s schedule, hits payroll on the right pay run, and updates the org chart automatically.
With Workzoom, the HR Suite includes six modules: Recruiting, Onboarding, Personnel, Organization, Engagement, and Compensation. All six are included with every HR Suite subscription. There are no optional add-ons or per-module fees within the suite. The other three suites (Workforce, Payroll, Talent) are separate subscriptions that connect through the same single database. Core HR runs personnel records, position management, and org structure. Optional modules add recruiting, onboarding, performance, learning, succession, compensation planning, and engagement surveys.
Workzoom Organization defines three hierarchies: worksites, departments, and jobs. Positions exist independently from people, so vacancies are tracked automatically. Reporting lines drive approval workflows for time off, expenses, and recruiting. Payroll inherits cost center mappings for journal entries. Scheduling inherits location assignments. Set the structure once and every other suite follows it. Position-based modeling means the org chart drives reporting hierarchy, approval workflows, and budget rollups. When a person moves, the position stays and the new occupant inherits the structure.
Workzoom never deletes employee records. When an employee is terminated, offboarding workflows handle equipment returns, access revocation, and exit documentation. The record is inactivated with full history preserved. If the employee returns as a rehire, seasonal worker, or contractor, you reactivate the same record. All prior history, training records, and documents remain intact. Termination workflows calculate final pay using the rules you configured, recover company assets, archive records with effective dates, and notify benefits, IT, and finance through configurable approval chains.
Compensation changes in Workzoom are stored as date-effective records. When you approve a merit increase, adjust a salary band, or complete a compensation planning cycle, Payroll picks up the change automatically on the next run. Backdated changes trigger retro pay calculations. No spreadsheet handoffs, no manual data entry between systems. Compensation requests flow from performance reviews directly into Payroll without re-keying. Salary changes, bonus payouts, and equity grants all carry effective dates that drive the next pay run.
