When NIS is due.

F5
Monthly PAYE return
Due by the 15th of the following month

The F5 is the BRA's monthly PAYE return. Workzoom generates the F5 directly from payroll with PAYE calculated against the BBD 25,000 personal allowance and the Income Year 2026 brackets of 11.5% and 27.5%.

F4

The F4 is the BRA's annual PAYE summary per employee for the prior year. Workzoom builds the F4 from the same payroll engine that produced each F5, so the year and the months agree by construction.

What employers actually ask about Barbados NIS.

The most common questions Barbados employers ask about NIS, filing, and payroll integration.

Workzoom applies the current Barbados NIS rate of 12.75% for the employer and 11.10% for the employee on insurable earnings up to the BBD 5,360 monthly ceiling (BBD 1,238 weekly, effective 1 January 2026). The combined contribution is 23.85% of insurable pay; the rates have been in force since 1 April 2025 and apply automatically on every pay run.
Workzoom tracks the BBD 5,360 monthly (BBD 1,238 weekly) maximum insurable earnings for NIS automatically per employee, effective 1 January 2026. Once insurable earnings hit the ceiling, NIS stops on subsequent pay runs in that period. PAYE continues on the full gross less the personal allowance, with no NIS-style cap.
Workzoom generates the monthly NIS contribution schedule so it is ready before the 15th of the following month. A January schedule is due by 15 February. Late filings draw a BBD 50 administrative penalty per overdue schedule plus a 10% surcharge and interest on unremitted contributions.
Workzoom applies PAYE at 11.5% on taxable income from BBD 25,001 to BBD 75,000 per year and 27.5% above BBD 75,000, after the BBD 25,000 basic personal allowance. These rates apply for Income Year 2026 onward, reduced from 12.5% and 28.5% under Budgetary Proposals 2026. The F5 monthly return and F4 annual summary are filed with the Barbados Revenue Authority and are produced directly from payroll.
Workzoom produces both. The F5 is the monthly PAYE return filed with the BRA by the 15th of the following month. The F4 is the annual PAYE summary per employee, due by 28 February. Both are built from the same payroll engine so the lines always agree.
Workzoom registers every employer operating in Barbados with the NIS Office through standard payroll setup. Every employer must contribute NIS for each employee earning above the minimum insurable threshold. Self-employed individuals contribute at a combined rate of 17.25% (effective 1 April 2025) covering both portions.
Yes. Workzoom calculates NIS at 12.75% employer and 11.10% employee, applies the BBD 5,360 monthly ceiling, then runs PAYE at 11.5% and 27.5% above the BBD 25,000 personal allowance. The NIS schedule, F5 monthly return, and F4 annual summary all come from the same payroll register.
Workzoom charges $4 per employee per month per suite. The full platform of HR, Workforce, Payroll, and Talent runs $16 per employee per month. There are no setup fees, no annual contracts, and Barbados statutory deductions are included in payroll without per-line surcharges.
