What employers actually ask about Barbados NIS.

The most common questions Barbados employers ask about NIS, filing, and payroll integration.

For standard private-sector employees, NIS and capped levies are 11% employee and 12.75% employer. Each side also pays 0.25% of gross earnings to the Resilience and Regeneration Fund. The calculator shows the capped and gross-pay contributions separately. Other employee classes have different rates.
The 2026 insurable earnings ceilings are BBD 5,360 monthly and BBD 1,238 weekly. Those ceilings limit NIS and the capped levies. The separate Resilience and Regeneration contribution is calculated on gross pay, including earnings above the ceiling.
Workzoom generates the monthly NIS contribution schedule so it is ready before the 15th of the following month. A January schedule is due by 15 February. Late filings draw a BBD 50 administrative penalty per overdue schedule plus a 10% surcharge and interest on unremitted contributions.
For Income Year 2026, this estimate deducts the BBD 25,000 basic annual personal allowance, applies 11.5% to the first BBD 50,000 of taxable income and 27.5% to the remainder. Other allowances and year-to-date withholding adjustments can change an actual payslip.
Workzoom produces both. The F5 is the monthly PAYE return filed with the BRA by the 15th of the following month. The F4 is the annual PAYE summary per employee, due by 28 February. Both are built from the same payroll engine so the lines always agree.
Workzoom reports every employer's NIS contributions to the NIS Office through standard payroll processing. Every employer must contribute NIS for each employee earning above the minimum insurable threshold. Self-employed individuals contribute at a combined rate of 17.25% (effective 1 April 2025) covering both portions.
The calculator separates PAYE from employee and employer contributions. For standard private-sector pay it uses 11% employee and 12.75% employer on capped insurable pay, plus 0.25% of gross pay from each side for the Resilience and Regeneration Fund. Open the calculation method for scope and official sources.
Workzoom charges $4 per employee per month per suite. The full platform of HR, Workforce, Payroll, and Talent runs $16 per employee per month. There are no setup fees, no annual contracts, and Barbados statutory deductions are included in payroll without per-line surcharges.
